Correlation Between Toxic Culture & Revenue Growth

A study conducted by Barrett Values Centre and Hewitt on 163 organizations and companies in Australia in 2008 showed a correlation between Toxic Culture (Entropy) and revenue growth. Over a three-year period, the correlation became clear when the lower the level of Toxic Culture, the higher the percentage of revenue growth. Conversely, the higher the level of Toxic Culture, the lower the revenue growth.

Organizations often face challenges like leadership gaps, poor teamwork, and disengaged employees. The biggest issue, however, is an unhealthy culture that quietly hinders growth. In addition, there is a positive correlation between Toxic Culture and staff engagement. Staff engagement refers to the level of connection or commitment employees have toward their organization or company. When Toxic Culture is low, engagement is high; however, when Toxic Culture is high, engagement tends to be low.
